Dr. Orris is a licensed clinical psychologist and in addition to her private practice, she serves as a consultant to adolescent treatment programs and a clinical supervisor for psychiatry residents and fellows. Dr. Orris provides regular trainings in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to agencies and practitioners. Dr. Orris is a volunteer clinical faculty member at University of California and speaks regularly at professional conferences, including the International Society for the Improvement and Teaching of DBT. (ISITDBT) She is certified in DBT by the Linehan Board of Certification and is a Diplomate with the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.
Dr. Orris is trained in a number of evidence based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Dr. Orris has over 15 years of clinical experience and is skilled in treating a wide range of presenting problems. Her clinical specializations include emotion dysregulation, borderline personality disorder, parenting, trauma, and eating disorders.
Dr. Orris completed psychological externships in Neuropsychology at UCI (pediatric) and UCLA (adult). Dr. Orris completed an APA-accredited internship and two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Casa Pacifica, a residential treatment center for adolescents. During that time, Dr. Orris developed and implemented the Dialectical Behavior Therapy program and trained clinical and program staff in this modality.
