DBT is a behavioral approach that targets behaviors the client has identified as impeding progress toward his or her goals. Balance, mindfulness, and living according to one's values are also emphasized. The ulitmate goal in DBT is to help the client build a life worth living.
DBT is a complex treatment and providers adherent to the model have typically undergone extensive training. Dr. Orris completed the DBT intensive training with Dr. Alan Fruzzetti in 2011 as well as specialized training in DBT for substance abuse and DBT for adolescents. Dr. Orris is the Clinical Director in the Orange County Office of CBT California where she oversees the adolescent and adult DBT programs. The program at CBT California is a full-fidelity, comprehensive DBT program under the direction of DBT expert, Lynn McFarr, PhD.
